Psychiatric Examination in the Destination Country

Under local laws, when a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident wishes to file an application for marriage registration with a citizen of the host country, both the U.S. party (citizen or permanent resident) and the local citizen must obtain an official certificate from a specialized hospital certifying that they do not suffer from any mental health disorders. In the event that the U.S. resident has not yet obtained a mental health clearance certificate from a hospital in the United States, they may undergo the psychiatric examination directly within the host country. The psychiatric certificate is only legally valid when issued by a provincial-level (or equivalent higher-level) hospital, and it remains valid for a period of 6 months.
